Teletherapy is…
Teletherapy is speech therapy at a distance. Using a secure, online platform, we can continue to establish speech and language skills while you are at home. Some people also call this “telehealth” or “telepractice.”
Texas Licensure allows Speech Language Pathologists (SLPs) to see clients throughout the state via teletherapy.
What does it look like?
Teletherapy looks very similar to face-to-face speech therapy. We will greet each other, get busy targeting our individualized goals and we often end with a reinforcement. Yes, we will still have homework to complete between sessions! It does require some support from the caregiver.
Will it work with my child?
Let’s try! It may require some trial and error depending on age, temperament, and diagnosis. Many children do excellent with teletherapy but not all children are great candidates for teletherapy.
